Frequently Asked Questions

See below for our most frequently asked questions. If you have any other questions, please give us a call on 0121-308-3984 or email us on enquiries@cafeceramica.com.

When are you open?

We are open Wednesday to Sunday every week! On Fridays we are open later 1-8:30pm, with our adults only sessions starting from 6pm!

We are always closed on Mondays, but we do open on Tuesdays during school holidays.

How do I book?

Booking is essential as we are quite a small studio! At the moment the only way to book in is to call us on 0121-308-3984.

What is the studio fee?

Our studio fee is £6 per person - this covers usage of the paint and the firing process we do afterwards for you.  You then have the cost of your chosen pottery priced on top of that. We take the studio in advance over the phone when you book as a way of

securing the table.

Can I cancel my session?

If you need to cancel or rearrange your session, you will need to give at least 48hrs notice to refund the studio fee/s or transfer them to another booking. Any less than 48hrs notice will mean you forfeit your studio fees.

For workshops via The Pottery Room, you will need to give a full 7 days notice to cancel or reschedule.

How long is the session?

Our sessions are two hours long and at set times so we can stagger customers arrival. You can always book a double session if we have the space available and you need a bit more time! A double session is 4 hours long and the studio fee is £12 per painter.

If you have only booked a two hour session and it’s a busy day, unfortunately we won’t be able to give you extra time, but you are always welcome to book in again to finish your item (any additional sessions will cost the usual £6 studio fee).

When will my pottery be ready?

Your painted items will be ready 7 days after your booked session. We can sometimes get items ready a bit quicker, but please bear in mind that the glazing and firing process alone takes two days before we can safely unload it from the kiln.

How long will you keep my items for?

We can only store your items for a maximum of 3 months so please make sure you come to collect as soon as you can! We do get in touch with customers with a deadline before your pottery is disposed of. We donate the uncollected pottery to charity where possible.

Do you have party packages?

We have a few different options for parties or “group bookings”!

If you have up to a maximum of 10 people you can book a normal session (£6 studio fee + item cost per painter) across our back table! All attendees must be seated as we can’t have people standing and blocking the aisle. E.g. If you had 8 children painting, up to 2 adults can stay to supervise but other parents would need to drop and go!

If you have a bigger group, you can have a “large group booking” across the front four tables for a maximum of 14 people. £84 is taken upfront with this option to cover the cost of the space and materials used, but there is no minimum spend on what pottery you choose, so you can pick whatever suits your budget!

With both of these options we ask that you don’t bring food, there will be other bookings in the studio and unfortunately we don’t have the extra space to have food out. You are more than welcome to bring a cake to

cut at the end if it’s for a special occasion!

Can I hire out the entire studio?

Yes, you can! We have an exclusive party package available for up to 24 painters and you will get the studio to yourselves!

£170 is taken upfront to cover the cost of paints, firing & exclusive studio hire, then there is £280 left to pay on the day for your pottery, so £450 altogether. Any refreshments & additional pottery above £280 are priced on top of this.

These sessions are 2 hours long and available for the last session of the day, so 3:15-5:15pm on Weds, Thurs & Sat,

6:45-8:30pm on a Friday & 1:30-3:30pm on a Sunday.

You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks, we just ask that you don’t bring big platters of food, pottery painting can get messy and having open food out on the tables isn’t ideal! We also serve a full range of hot and cold drinks available to purchase on the day!

Exclusive bookings need to be booked in quite far in advance, if other people are already booked into the studio then an exclusive booking can’t go ahead.

Do you run workshops?

Yes, all of the workshops, painted and clay, run through The Pottery Room! This is a separate studio to Café Ceramica but in the same centre, just a 30 second walk away in the other courtyard!

You don’t need any experience to join a painting workshop or a beginners throwing session! All abilities are welcome to have a go and learn a new skill!

Do you have clay throwing sessions?

Clay throwing sessions are available through The Pottery Room! These sessions are scheduled rather than running everyday, when sessions are available they will be posted here. Throwing sessions are limited to 5 people at a time and there are a few types of wheel to try!
